Day Sixteen

After we finished watching TV we went to sleep and were awakened by the loudest alarm. Tony was madly scrambling around trying to shut it off and unplugging something to no avail. It was not long before we realized it was the building alarm and red light and not the 'air purifier' in the bedroom. Apparently there is no air purifier so our technical knowledge can't help us decide whether it is a fan, a speaker or something else we aren't familiar with. Some 'neighbours' were looking nervous in the hall but we didn't see any others in the stairwell so we came back and listened for the firetruck to arrive and shut off the alarms. At Cullen I learned that the alarms cannot be turned off until the firemen have found the source of the alarm. After first jumping into our jeans we finally decided it was safe to go back to sleep.

This morning we walked downtown again and stopped for coffee along the way. I'll put in a photo of the only animal we have seen since we left home. There is more wildlife at Thickson's Point than anywhere we have been. There are lots of dogs in Vancouver, some very cute ones.
Most of the stores here are open so we went into the Bay and they had lots of things going on. Samples of exotic sandwiches were being given out and free coffee etc. in the restaurant. We are home getting rested after walking so far. We had planned to take Pia and Jamie out but Pia has convinced us to come and eat at their place instead. I wanted to save her the trouble of cooking but she said she made double when she cooked yesterday. It is probably more fun to play with Charlie at home too.
