Days Nine, Ten and Eleven (5th -7th)

After clearing the ice off our windshield we left Edmonton, just in time because Jean told us about the snow in her backyard the next day. It was a little foggy along the Yellowhead Trail but turned into a clear cool sunny day. We left Jasper around noon and stopped for a look at Mount Robson and so far we haven't seen one red leaf in their fall colours. It is also a first time we have driven this way and not seen one animal, or even any roadkill! We arrived in Kelowna about 8:00 PM which was better timing than we expected.

On Tuesday Tony and Jeff had the oil changed etc. and then we had lunch and toured around a bit and saw the ranch house where my mother stayed when she was out here in 1921. It is quite built up in that area but when she was there it was out by itself with 5000 acres around it. We drove up to Vernon and had dinner with Peter Bulman and his wife and the Kanes at a really nice Best Western. It was reminiscent of Charles and Kathy's wedding reception location with lots of trees, etc. in the atrium dining room. It was fun to meet Peter and Shirley and learn some more about the Bulman side of our family. My grandfather's mother was Sarah Bulman which is why Goggie, my grandfather, and family were out visiting the family in Kelowna.

On Wednesday we drove up to Gallagher's Canyon to have lunch with Herb and Lilo. It was nice to see them again. She made a wonderful shrimp quiche. She is such a good cook. Unlike our house which deteriorates more each year theirs was just as perfect as last time we were there. That night we had dinner at the condo with Mady and Jeff and watched a cute old movie on TV, 'Cactus Flower'. Jeff and Tony fell asleep but Mady and I saw the ending which was predictable.
